Are you facing problems within yourself, at work, or in your relationships? Do you want things to be different? Then you must do things differently.
Sometimes we can resolve our problems by our own efforts, or with the support of friends and family. That is often the skillful choice. At other times, professional guidance is required. If you are looking for an experienced psychologist who is well informed, practical, compassionate and collaborative, consider working with me. I am ready to help you help yourself. Simply contact me and we can arrange a phone consultation without cost or obligation.
In addition to my private practice, I am a member of the clinical faculty at the UCSF Langley Porter Psychiatric Institute, where I teach patients, residents and fellows. I also present lectures and workshops to professionals and community groups on various aspects of psychotherapy.
Beyond my education and training, I bring my personal experience to my work. I have lived a full life. There has been joy and sorrow, achievement and loss. Over the years I was married and divorced, and witnessed my loved ones become ill and die. I have made both skillful and unskillful choices, and learned from the consequences as best I could. I am an omnivorous student of science, music, and mathematics, and have played jazz piano for over 40 years (you’d think I would sound better at this point, but it’s sufficiently satisfying to keep me playing!). I am also the proud father of two children, and have devoted myself to fatherhood with heart and soul – it’s been the single best thing in my life. With gratitude and persistence I continue growing as a person, reasonably content, with peace of mind, one day at a time.
Life is sometimes hard, but it is also beautiful…. Call or email if you have any questions. I wish you well!
